Memorial Weekend gifts

We had a great time visiting several good friends of ours this Memorial Day weekend. Here's some of the things I made for their young children:

Elephant Parade

Peanut, the wee elephant from Last Minute Patchwork + Quilt Gifts.
I used the final pieces of my Amy Butler Lotus dot stash, and stuffed two of them with quilt batting scraps cut into tiny squares for softness.

Miss Maggie's Doll Quilt

I made this one pretty quickly using the log cabin squares left-over from the freshcut quilt, then machine-appliqued a couple of grandmother's flowers that I've been learning to make. I love the black and white polkadot binding, but the dye bled onto a spot on the front in the wash. I disguised it by sewing the matching ink jet label on top. Finished size was about 13" x 20".

The elephants are cute...but your picture is adorable. They look like they are marching home. And the polka dots, and their ears...ohh they are so cute!
