Cobwebs multiplying

4 of 6 complete blocks for my Spiderweb quilt:

Cobwebs multiplying

I love these blocks, especially together. To my surprise, each 15" block is requiring at least 90 minutes to make. It's a slow piecing process for a change. I'm going to let my scraps dictate the size of the quilt, so this may not be complete for quite a while.

I love it. I am cutting my fabric now to send off to a quilting bee I am in... I am requesting spiderweb blocks. I think it is just fate that your post come in my rss feed while I was working on this... it got me excited about this even more. I love how yours look. Awesome work.

What site did you use for inspiration/directions?

Thanks so much! I altered the design a tad, but here's the basic instructions:
http://quiltville.com/spiderweb.shtml. I'm foundation piecing mine instead on the white background.

So pretty!! But yeah- they take a long time, right?!? I made four blocks - just enough to see a full pretty spider web and I've been at a dead stop since. You have made so much progress and I LOVE your alteration so that there are different sized webs. So so pretty!

Wow, it's coming along beautifully! I like your idea of foundation piecing them right onto the white, smart.

So great! Perfect for using up tiny scraps which I have loads of. It looks like there are mirrors sectioning the block. Neat effect.

watching the spiderweb quilt grow from scraps is the best part of making the quilt. i LOVE how yours is coming along.

i'm just like alissa...i made 4 and then stopped...they're taunting me from my design wall. they do take a lot of time. what are you using for a foundation...i'd sure like to switch from paper. congrats on the feature too!

I am making one of these too! I am determined to use up a bunch of scraps. Each web is so different and actually it looks quite cool. It is rather slow going, and I sometimes stop and start another smaller project, because I get sick of looking at these scraps!

I really love this, all of your bright fabric scraps make it look so cool. :D I'll have to try this someday.
