I began this quilt, Timber Trail, five years ago. The pattern is from American Patchwork & Quilting magazine, February 2000. I completed the piecing, but never got around to quilting. When I got my latest creative urge, I decided to finish this quilt before starting any new projects.
Through trial and error, I learned about carefully matching corners, how machine binding can go wrong quickly, and keeping my blanket stitches consistent on the applique trees. It's not perfect, but the finished product is pretty nice for my first attempt. My mom's living room has blue and rust colors, so it finally became a Christmas gift after all those years.
