Quilt in Progress

The first fabrics on my recent sewing journey included a few Heather Bailey Fresh Cut fat quarters. The bright, happy prints are contrary to my typical style. Still, they coordinate with my artichoke green blanket, so I made reversible pillow coverlets to brighten my bedroom during the dreary winter days.

In March, I ordered a 1/2 yard of each print in Colorway 2 and lots of Kona cotton to make a Spring/Summer queen-size quilt for us. The fabrics look so pretty pressed and folded, it's hard to cut into them. But if there's any chance of me actually being able to use the quilt this year, I need to get going. This is the largest quilt that I have embarked on to date, though not the most difficult (Dear Jane reserves that honor).

Fabric for a new project

I am piecing both sides of this one, and I haven't decided whether I will quilt it myself (limited capabilities but I'm leaning this way) or hire a long-arm quilter. One side is inspired by Terry Atkinson's Happy Hour pattern and this version using alternating white blocks. I like how the blocks are large enough to showcase the prints. The other side will be of my own simple design mainly with white backgound. So far, I have all my Happy Hour printed blocks cut and sewn together. I hope to finish the white blocks by early next week.

I agree, that alternating white is gorgeous! And those fabrics you picked will be perfect for it. It is amazing what a little fresh fabric and color can do for ones mood and room. I have never seen those coverlets before. What a perfect way to match the pillows with whatever is on your bed! Really special! Love Stacy
